Staff nice enough, but felt chased out a little because we were in work clothes. but at over 5 a pint was happy to go elsewhere

Probably my favourite pub in Kingston, great food, breakfast, great selection of drinks that aren't too expensive, comfy places to sit. The only personal negative for me is that sport is shown regularly! Ps, try the espresso martini!
This would normally be our pub of choice when visiting Kingston upon Thames However, on this occasion we were asked to provide photo ID and because my partner didn't have anything we were turned away. I used to carry ID when I was about 18 on a night out in Brighton, but even then I don't think I'd ever been asked for it. I am now 52 and look quite respectable (or so I thought ). Not a problem as there are plenty of other decent bars around. I'm not sure whether I was offended or amused. I could return next time with my passport but all that will prove is where I live and might raise concerns that I am part of the West Sussex 'massive'. Don't think I will bother.
What a fantastic pub! The only place to go to watch sport in Kingston! On Fridays and Saturdays they have awesome live bands and the pizzas are to die for! The staff are always super friendly and on hand to help you with recommendations, its nice to actually have a conversation with such great staff instead of being served by robots in most places! Love love love ONeills!
