Went in there with my wife and kids (5&1) on my way back home... last minute thing just for a quick coffee as it was raining... clean and friendly place - nice toys around for both kids to be entertained. Coffee was good, reasonably priced. We have been there a few times and would visit again... try it.
I'm a regular at the Secret Garden Play Cafe as I feel that it offers something unique to the area and my baby daughter loves it. The sensory sessions are great (and always result in a much-needed nap from my daughter!) but there are also lots of activities for slightly older babies and children. It is a great place to come when your babies start to want to move all the time and it gives them the opportunity to play with far more toys than you would have at home. I did the Christmas pottery and that was lovely and made really nice gifts. I recommend it to all my friends with young children :-)
I have been here twice, both on group visits with my antenatal friends and their babies. Both times have been told off by the lady running it. The first time my baby was 3 months old, and we were visiting the sensory rooms as our Christmas party. The babies were all dressed up and we were all excited about it, as it had been planned for weeks.My excitement came to an abrupt halt on arrival. Firstly, buggies are not allowed in. They have to be left unsecured in the front garden, which is open to a busy street. On seeing the no buggies sign on the front door, I asked the lady if she had any locks or similar. She said no, bring your own, and that it is not her responsibility. Many places do not let buggies in. I found this a surprising attitude, as its a baby cafe. I decided to leave rather than put an expensive buggy out on the street unsecured, where it could easily be stolen. Then I became upset because my baby would miss out on her party, and seeing this, the lady eventually let me take it in folded down, for that one occasion only, and not again. The second time I left the buggy at home and carried my baby. My back was in pain from doing this, which I knew would happen (this is why I have a buggy!), but figured it would avoid an argument. On arriving, I went downstairs to wait for my group and get baby ready, and the lady told me to go back upstairs and wait because she had not checked me in. The stairs are steep and it feels dangerous going up and down them carrying baby, so I refused to go up just to come down again. She told my friends when they arrived, that I was a little upset. She also refused to reschedule a friends appointment due to bad weather.The sensory room is sweet and baby enjoyed it, although there are signs saying no food or drink, so babies cannot feed in there. The set up of the building is not baby or parent friendly. And the lady has not treated me or baby like customers, just as annoying inconveniences.I will not be taking my baby there again, as there are other sensory rooms in the area for little one to enjoy.
I went here with my 13 month old and a friend and her 19 month old and was absolutely delighted with the place. Food was great and there were SO many toys for the kids to play with. The owner, Danielle, was so lovely and friendly too. It was like chatting to a friend! I would definitely go again!
The Secret Garden Play Cafe has a lovely atmosphere and friendly, welcoming staff. My son loves it here and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend it to anyone with children as the activities are great. The manager is very animated with the children which helps them get the most out of their playtime.
